How much does pool renovation cost on the Sunshine Coast?
We do not answer that with a figure, because no government source sets one. The fixed parts are the fees: QBCC's pool licence classes apply above A$3,300, and Sunshine Coast Council charges A$590 for a fence inspection and certificate. The costs page sets out what changes a job and the fees a government body or council sets, with the date each was read. The costs page's Pool renovation costs and rules check lists the Queensland and Sunshine Coast Council rules that apply at your job's value, each with its source.
What is the average cost to resurface a pool?
We do not publish an average or a price band, because no source we can cite states one that would be true of your pool. The mix of pool type, area and equipment differs on every job. Ask a local provider for a written quote against the same job description.

Process
Do I need a QBCC licence for pool resurfacing or retiling?
Above A$3,300, yes. QBCC names a construction class for concrete pools, covering ceramic tiling, painting, coping and internal finishes, and a separate installation class for fibreglass and prefabricated pools. Below that value the work is outside building-work licensing, unless it is plumbing, drainage or gas fitting, which need a licence at any value.
Who can do the electrical and plumbing work on a pool renovation?
A licensed electrician must install and maintain pool wiring and electrical equipment, and since 1 April 2025 that includes water equipment such as pumps and lights. Plumbing, drainage and gas fitting need a QBCC licence at any value.
Timing
How quickly can someone get to me?
We cannot promise a time. It depends on the provider's bookings. Form enquiries are passed to a local provider, who contacts you directly.
Does home warranty cover my pool renovation?
Not automatically. QBCC says there is no cover for non-structural defects or for surfacing outside the coping of the pool. It does cover a structural defect that lets water escape through the shell, or one that affects health or safety, for 6 years 6 months on policies taken out since 28 October 2016. A claim must be lodged within 3 months of noticing the defect.
Permits and approvals
Does a pool renovation on the Sunshine Coast need council approval?
Repairs and alterations to an existing structure are usually self-assessable under the Building Regulation 2021, unless they change its floor area or height or affect a structural component. No source read for this site says which resurfacing jobs cross that line, so ask a building certifier before work starts.

Service area
Which suburbs do you cover?
The Sunshine Coast and Noosa Shire. Five pages are written around a council fact: Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Buddina, Pelican Waters and Noosa Heads. Noosa Shire Council's own licensed pool safety inspectors carry out inspections there. The rest of the service area is covered on the same terms.
Do you do the work yourselves?
No. This site is run by a marketing company, which passes each enquiry to an independent licensed local provider. The provider inspects the pool, quotes and does any work itself; we hold no licence and have no crews or plant.
